Icotera sets new standard in the CPE market: Making ESG compliance easy
All Icotera Wi-Fi 6 routers will come with a third-party Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) delivering ESG data in the full product life cycle.
Internet service providers now have an easy way of balancing performance, price, and environmental impact in decision-making. Icotera launches third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations for their Wi-Fi 6 router products, delivering all ESG data in one document.
Internet service providers can now meet their regulatory requirements and environmental goals without the hassle of piecing together data from multiple sources when purchasing an Icotera Wi-Fi 6 router.
Icotera, a leading European developer and manufacturer of standard-setting FTTH solutions, proudly announces the release of two third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for the Wi-Fi 6 router series i4880 (including i4882 and i4883) and an upcoming EPD for the Wi-Fi 6 router i4862.
This milestone marks Icotera as a forerunner in the market to offer ISPs validated information on the environmental impact of a CPE throughout its entire life cycle, from resources to end-of-life.
Making ESG a business driver
The EPDs cover all environmental impact indicators, including global warming potential (CO2), electricity consumption in the use phase, refurbishment, and resource depletion at the end-of-life, with an exceptionally high data quality above 90%, due to supply chain data and Ecoinvent databases.
René Brøchner, CEO at Icotera, comments on the commercial value of this achievement: "Our ambition is to help our customers in their green transition, making ESG a business driver. I’m proud that we are the first in the market with a verified environmental product declaration delivering all ESG data in one document. This achievement adds considerable value to our Wi-Fi 6 products.”
The EPDs offer valid environmental data in the full product life cycle.
Easy purchasing and ESG reporting
When an ISP chooses an Icotera Wi-Fi 6 router, it comes with a product-specific EPD with the benefit of:
- Easy purchasing: All environmental data in one document makes it easy to choose the right product, balancing price, performance and impact to reach company sustainability targets.
- Easy ESG reporting: Having all environmental data in one document makes it easy to pick valid data for ESG reporting, removing administrative burdens in company compliance.
- No risk of greenwashing: Third-party verified data and transparent methods in the full product life cycle eliminate the risk of greenwashing by making false or misleading statements to customers about environmental benefits.
New standard for product releases
The EPDs adhere to internationally recognised standards, including ISO 14040:2006, ISO 14044:2006, and ISO 14025:2006, ensuring robust scientific analysis and full transparency.
The EPDs are available here:
- Wi-Fi 6 router series i4880 (including i4882 and i4883)
- Wi-Fi 6 router i4862 (to be published).
In addition to this, the new Sága Wi-Fi 7 and Baldur fibre termination portfolios will also be delivered with verified EPD to support our customers with valid data for their green transition.
