Icotera provides open access Gateways including Intelligent Network Monitoring to leading Swedish FTTH provider

Com Hem - One of Sweden’s largest FTTH providers has recently chosen Icotera’s residential layer 2 gateway including ICONS – Icotera Network Surveillance - for their future FTTH rollout.

Since April 2018, Icotera’s i6400 open access Gateway series has been rolled out in large scale by Com Hem.

‘We are thrilled that Com Hem has chosen our products to continue its Swedish FTTH rollout’, says René Brøchner, CEO at Icotera. ‘Icotera is a technology leader in our field. Our products are developed to provide a better connected lifestyle experience through innovative gateways and exceptional in home Wi-Fi solutions in combination with real time network monitoring’.

The Icotera i6400 is targeted towards open access networks and, in general, operators with a layer 2 demarcation point. All switching is done in hardware, resulting in lightning fast wire-speed gigabit transfer rates and giving the instant-on feeling for the end-user.

‘The Swedish FTTH networks are regarded part of the national critical infrastructure’, continues René Brøchner, ‘and our products are designed with an extreme low power consumption for always-on operation and fully support the Swedish chemical tax regulation. This combined with our built-in tools for proactive monitoring and troubleshooting, makes Icotera's gateways and surveillance solution particularly suitable for the Swedish market’.

ICONS, Icotera Network Surveillance Solution is designed for Network Operators and Service providers to provide monitoring and data analysis to reduce and shorten support calls (OPEX reduction) by offering enhanced capabilities for end-user support and network performance diagnostics - all the way to the end user devices.

‘Icotera’s products adds a major contribution to our customer service functions at Com Hem’, says Thomas Helbo, CTO Com Hem, ‘We are very excited to work with Icotera. They have extensive experience in developing intelligent FTTH products and solutions, and we are happy that our customers will benefit from the great internet experience and support tools that Icotera’s products are bringing’.
